Dr Rabi Chhantyal-Pun is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham, UK, and leads the Atmospheric Chemistry Group. He recieved his Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry from Newman University in 2007 which was followed by a PhD degree in Physical Chemistry from the Ohio State University in 2013, both in the USA. His full academic biography is available in the University of Nottingham profile page linked below. Rabi enjoys socializing with the group when he can and chat science, sports, politics and all things topical.

Dr Shefali Baweja is a research fellow in the group. She obtained her BSc and MSc degrees in Chemistry from the University of Delhi, India. She recently completed her PhD from King’s College London, funded through an International Research Scholarship. Her PhD focused on studies of microsolvation and aggregation of aromatic molecules of atmospheric interest using broadband rotational spectroscopy and molecular modelling. Applying her experience in high-resolution spectroscopy and diversifying it further, Shefali will be undertaking kinetic and mechanistic studies of autoxidation chemistry of peroxy radicals using near-infrared cavity ring-down spectroscopy and computational chemistry methods.

Edward Bates completed his Chemistry and Molecular Physics MSci degree from Nottingham in 2022 and decided to stay on for his PhD studies which will focus on spectroscopic and kinetic studies of peroxy radicals using near infrared cavity ring-down spectroscopy. Outside the lab, he is an avid supporter of his local football club Burton Albion, regularly travelling to different corners of the country following them. He also enjoys exploring the outdoors, walking in the Peak District and around the local nature reserve at Attenborough
